Maybe you read this already, but it shouldn't come as a surprise despite the First Amendment guaranteeing "freedom of the press." Still, the New York Times has finally come out and admitted that they and all the others are censored by the US government. Look at it this way - you need FCC approval to report the news. They can yank your license whenever.
